great albums that i dont wanna write out whole reviews for

Hello! As someone who chose to write about music, I listen to a lot of music. Now, that should seem like a "no $#*!" statement but it's true. However, due to a combination of laziness and time constraints, there's just not enough time for me to write out full reviews of great albums. So instead I'm gonna write quick reviews on 10 albums I think are great but don't want to write out whole reviews on. Let's get started!

This Is Happening
LCD Soundsystem

LCD Soundsystem sounds like what would happen if David Bowie and Daft Punk formed a band and tried to imitate the Talking Heads. With catchy grooves and lyrics that sound the ravings of the main character of any collage movie. This Is Happening is one of the catchiest records I've ever heard. It also has my favorite songs of all time with the opener Dance Yrslf Clean. Oh yeah and heads up the songs on this are stupid long. It's only 9 songs but it's over an hour. Best songs: Dance Yrslf Clean, Drunk Girls, I Can Change, You Wanted A Hit, Pow Pow, Home. FINAL SCORE: 9.5/10

Process
Sampha

Sampha is an interesting dude. Best known for his floating serine voice, the British R&B artist built a name for himself with features for people like Drake and Kanye all before he dropped his first album. This is that album and it is excellent. The production and songs are melancholy and mysterious highlighting Sampha's almost angelic voice. With only 10 songs Sampha is able to deliver a wide variety of emotions. Best songs: Plastic 100℃, Blood On Me, No One Knows Me Like The Piano, Reverse Faults, Under, Timmy's Prayer, Incomplete Kisses. FINAL SCORE 9.5/10

Long Season
Fishmans
Long Season is a wild ride. Fishmans is a Japanese dream-pop from the 90's and this is by far the best thing they've ever put out. The album consists of one 35 minute odyssey of song with multiple parts and sections that weave in and out to create one of the most mesmerizing sound environments I've ever heard. If you have a free half an hour I implore you to go and listen to this. Who cares if you can't understand the lyrics, shut up and vibe. Best songs: There's only one lol. FINAL SCORE: 9.5/10

GO:OD AM
Mac Miller
Mac Miller, as far as I'm concerned accomplished one of the hardest things to do as a rapper or in music in general: he's a good white rapper. His talents come off full force in GO:OD AM as one of the most complete projects of the 2010s. Mac mixes clever bars on a great mix of beats. Plus some of the songs hit extremely different knowing how he died. Best songs: Brand Name, Rush Hour, 100 Grandkids, Clubhouse, Break The Law, Perfect Circle/God Speed, When In Rome, ROS, Ascension, Jump, The Festival. FINAL SCORE: 9.5/10

Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
Car Seat Headrest
Twin Fantasy (Face to Face) is the 2018 re-recording of the 2011 record Twin Fantasy also by Car Seat Headrest which was literally recorded in the back seat of the main singer's car. It keeps the highly personal songwriting and raw emotion of the 2011 record with some updated lyrics and a much cleaner recording. It's a great example of modern indie rock with some of my favorite songs of all time. Best songs: Beach Life-In-Death, Sober To Death, Bodys, Cute Thing, High To Death, Famous Prophets (Stars), Twin Fantasy (Those Boys). FINAL SCORE: 10/10
4eva Is A Mighty Long Time
Big K.R.I.T
Big K.R.I.T doesn't get enough love. 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time is one of the best hip-hop projects of the 2010s. Literally the best southern hip-hop record since OutKast and we just don't talk about him. Released in 2017 as a double album, this project has nearly everything that anyone could want from a hip-hop album. Great bars, great beats, great features, hardly any filler, AND not one but TWO soul songs? There is so much to love here. Best songs: Big K.R.I.T, Big Bank, Subenstein (My Sub IV), 1999, Ride Wit Me, Get Up 2 Come Down, Aux Cord, Get Away, Justin Scott, Keep The devil Off, Higher Calling, Drinking Sessions, The Light, Bury Me In Gold. FINAL SCORE: 9.5/10
Food & Liquor
Lupe Fiasco
Most people know Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco for his feature on the Kanye song Touch the Sky, but Lupe Fiasco is a great artist in his own right, and his debut album Food & Liquor is one of my all favorite hip-hop records. With contributions from everyone from Pharrell and Jay-Z to Jill Scott and the dude from Linkin Park, Food & Liquor still sounds fresh today. It's what I think of when I think of hip-hop. Lupe just flows so well on these beats it works so well. For 16 tracks Lupe Fiasco brings you into his world and the problems he sees in ours. Best songs: Real, Kick Push, He Say She Say, Sunshine, Daydreamin', The Cool, Hurt Me Soul, Pressure, American Terrorist, The Emperor's Soundtrack. FINAL SCORE: 9.5
Nonagon Infinity
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard is known for two things: The first being their stupid name and second for the insane amount of work they've put out. Since 2010, the Australian rock group self-released 18(!) whole albums. In my opinion far and away the best thing they put out is the 2015 trash rock album Nonagon Infinity. A concept album in which the concept is that the album doesn't end. Each of the 9 songs loops into each other giving the illusion of one long album and the final track loops into the first song so one could loop this album together seamlessly for eternally. Best songs: Robot Stop, Big Fig Wasp, Gamma Knife, Mr. Beat, Evil Death Roll. FINAL SCORE: 9.5/10
Because The Internet
Childish Gambino

Childish Gambino or Donald Glover is one of the biggest actors/writers/rappers/comedians alive today. His opus is the 2013 album Because The Internet, which is actually has a script attached that tells the story of what happening in the album. I can't even begin to explain the story of the album and all the symbolism in the album but there is a podcast on Spotify talking about the whole album. It's very good and I cannot recommend it enough so search up Dissect podcast if you have the time. Anyway, without the story, the music is still great. Gambino has cleaver bars with a great mix of Rap, R&B, and like Soul on one track. Best songs: Crawl, Worldstar, The Worst Guys, Telegraph Ave, Sweatpants, 3005, Flight of The Navigator, Urn, Pink Toes, Earth: The Oldest Computer, Life The Biggest Troll. FINAL SCORE: 9.5/10
Reflections of a Floating World
Elder

Elder is a group that had they been around 50 years ago they'd be heralded as rock gods, but they play in the 21st century where rock is dead. Oh well, this album still bumps. An album made up mostly of 11-minute prog-rock songs with heavy guitars and catchy riffs Reflections of a Floating World sounds like something that would've been released back in the late 70's early 80's. It's some really great dense guitar work on here so if that's your thing I really recommend this. Best songs: Sanctuary, The Falling Veil, Staving off Truth, Blind, Thousand Hands. FINAL SCORE: 8.5/10

All of the albums in order from left to right.
First 5 on the top row. Last 5 on the bottom row.
